10 Solid Ways to Write Better Blog Content that Will Keep Your Readers Coming Back For More!

Thumbnail image for 10 Solid Ways to Write Better Blog Content that Will Keep Your Readers Coming Back For More!

Writing content is easy, but writing great content that keeps people coming back for more is a tricky beast to tame. Like anything, it takes practice to get better, but even then, some people struggle to get their ideas out of their head and onto the paper with…

Accuracy !

In today’s post, I want to share 10 solid ways to write better blog content so that you can create a great blog that keeps people…

Reading,
Commenting, and
Sharing !

1.  Focus

Don’t try to cover too many topics in a single post. I recommend that you make your post as short as it needs to be to cover a topic, and if you have additional ideas…

Write Them in
Another New Post !

2.  Length

People don’t have time to read long posts these days. Even Seth Godin keeps his posts under 500 words almost always. Rather than see how you can write more, you should see…

How You Can Delete More !

3.  Engaging Headlines

Your headline should make people want to jump into your post and devour it. If your headlines are weak, then go through your archives to see which posts get people to click, and…

Write More Like That !

4.  Split Test

One of the best ways to write better content is to split-test different types of headlines and post types. If a certain topic, post type, or headline type converts better, then…

Keep Using it !

5.  Small Paragraphs

This is a function of length, but try not to be too verbose in your writing, and if anything, try to break up your paragraphs so people can…

Scan Quickly !

6.  Discuss Reader Comments

On of my favorite things about blogger and VC Fred Wilson is that he quotes reader comments and discusses them in a post. This does two things:

1. It shows you are paying attention, and

2. It helps build community.

7.  Do Your Research

There’s not much worse you can do for your reputation than to write poorly researched and inaccurate content. Smart readers will call you on it, and eventually…

They’ll Stop Reading !

8.  Be Original

I know I shouldn’t have to say this, but many bloggers sound just like the blogger down the street, and as a result, blogging becomes a giant echo chamber with very little originality of thought. So…

Create Your Own ideas !

9.  Pose Questions

You don’t have the answers to every problem, so instead of trying to pretend like you do, why not ask questions of those who might have better answers? Also, it doesn’t help to ask for reader engagement at the end of every post. This is a great way to get people thinking about the content, rather than just posting comment such as

“great post !”

10.  Interview People

This is a great way to build influence, authority, and to get a pro to write content for you. Find a blogger you admire and interview them on Skype or via email. Then post their answers as a blog post.

Stay Unique,

Inspiring article content, like always :)

Now, I advocate in depth research before you even start writing your post because what you write (output) is your naked reflection of what you know and what you read/listen to/watch/observe (input).

P.S. We could also add: blog post title optimization to help attract the right audience. What do you say?

I only have one question: how do you convince a blogger, which is anyway busy all day with his own blog and stuff to give you an interview and offer you at the same time valuable and new information? I thought about that but I consider it pretty difficult and time consuming..

Well, a lot of stuff is difficult and time consuming but the result is great, you see shouldn’t take difficult and time as a way of a reason for not doing it, as you know there is no overnight success, so it’s all about how you can get thing done in a smart way.
For example if you want to get interviews, surely the pros do not have time with you, but you can always find those blogger that’s doing well in your niche and interview them, I bet you they are willing to do it and it’s actually not difficult send them a questionnaire and tell them they will be featured on your blog which actually can bring new traffic to his blog and also he will featured the interview on his blog which in terms giving you exposure to new traffic…

“5 small paragraphs” this is something I like on your blog… your posts are easy to read.. actually, for this one, because of the sub headlines and short paragraphs, it took me 1 min to read it and get the useful stuff out of it:D actually, those headlines say it all, I don’t even need to read the paragraphs, because I understand the idea behind:P

11. Dare to be controversial.
People who are always neutral or go with the majority are boring as hell.
Don’t be afraid to offend some people. It means you evoke feelings within your readers.
Some people might leave and never come back, but others will become loyal readers.

(edited a word. I got marked as spam)

Don’t worry, if you want to use the fuck word, even if you mark as spam, I still will approve if you had written something awesome in the comment.
And thanks for adding number 11 which I personally think is a great tip because I like controversial stuff a lot and I too likes to write them sometime! :)
