So you’re out of ideas for the next blog post, and you need to get something up fast. What do you do?
You Steal Them of Course !
Now, I’m not talking about plagiarism, nor am I talking about scraping content for an auto-blog. I’m talking about legitimate post jacking that is not only ethical, but often welcomed. If you follow these tips, you’ll have ideas for a lifetime, and you’ll be….
A Hero, Not a Zero !
Let’s dig in.
1. Discuss the News
Every day, news bloggers on sites like TechCrunch and Mashable post several stories based on the current news topics and would like nothing more than to get people to read them.
One way to get post ideas out of this is to see what’s happening in the news, and then blog about it. Cite the original story, analyze a few quotes from it, and re-blog it.
Bam !
Another Blog Post Bites the Dust !
2. Reddit
Have you ever been to Reddit? The place is a madhouse, and full of a mix of great ideas and bad conversation, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t useful. Look on the first page of Reddit to see what people are talking about, and then write about it. You’ll probably get a traffic boost because of the SEO, and if you submit it…
You Could Get Traffic
From Reddit Too !
3. They’re Doing It Wrong
Look through your RSS reader and see if you can find some posts on a topic that interests you, but that you don’t agree with. It shouldn’t be hard to find at least one. From there, do the same you’d do with a news story, which is to quote the article, cite the source, and this time, explain…
Why They’re Wrong !
Depending on your presentation, you’ll either make a few friends, or a few enemies, but heck -
At Least
You’ll Have a Post
Knocked Out !
4. Old Topic, New Take
Sites like Problogger and Copyblogger are a wealth of information for new and old bloggers alike, but there’s a problem, many of the best posts…
Are Buried in the Archives !
Take some of your favorites and then tackle them in your own way, which will provide unique perspective and bring old topics back to the forefront of discussion. If you’re feeling really generous, link to the original blog post and mention that it…
Inspired You !
5. Old Topic Analysis
Is there a post on another blog that you particularly like or that got a lot of traffic? Why not copy it, and then break it down through paragraph by paragraph analysis? This works great for complicated topics, or topics that you feel deserve…
A Bit More Attention !
Post the original piece one paragraph at a time, in quotes (with link), and then offer your analysis underneath each section. This could lead to…
A Multitude of Really
Great Posts !
6. Open Source
Many bloggers, like Leo Babauta from Zen Habits and Tyler Tervooren from Advanced Riskology “open source” their blog and make it legal to take their content and re-post it. Keep a list of people like this and you’ll always have…
Something New to Post !
Stay Frosty,

Hi Wong,

You caught me in 4rth point. I just follow the same way. There are many posts, as you’ve rightly said, “buried” on great blogs like Problogger. One can take these topics and use this innovation to write a successful blog post.
Thanks for the tips.

Well, that’s great. I believe you will have quite numbers of ideas…
I always believe that content creators should have the right to control how their content is used. But that doesn’t mean they should never let it be used!
As a hobby blogger, I’m not too bothered if my posts are nicked, especially when they include my internal and affiliate links! My content gets a wider audience and my livlihood is not at risk.
It sometimes seems perverse that we spend massive efforts getting our content out there through “marketing” and then spend massive efforts stopping people who are doing this for us for free just because we haven’t given our permission!
Like I say, we should always have a right to control our content but we should think carefully about how to use that right.

Ya, you said it right, we should have control over our content, but if it’s been link back to my main content then it will be alright for me…
Finding stories to publish from other stories is perfectly acceptable as information is free on the internet unless otherwise specified. Knicking content however is unacceptable, and plagiarism a no-no.
Within my niche it is respectable to include a ‘via’ and a ‘source’ link back to websites I have taken inspiration from for the post.

To me any niche should include a via and a source link, I mean if the content is written by someone other the you yourself and of course I too didn’t like plagiarism…
Thanks for agreeing

I think discussing the current news in your blog is really great idea to have a good and new post all time & stay up to date about changing trends in your niche.

Well, the most important point is #4 and #5….Maybe whats hot on Reditt on other sites wont be popular next day. So, its always better to analyse well to what works on your blog then act according to that

Actually, it doesn’t matter whether or not your post will be popular tomorrow as long as you have internal links to other post, I’m sure your reading will be interested in other story. To me every source of traffic is something to look into rather then thinking it will be useless the next day.

No problem, thank you for coming by reading and commenting…
If you discuss, post some analysis or quote the latest news/buzz on tech, fashion, environment, etc. you will, I think, really drive traffic. People swarm on what’s hot and are ready to talk.

I’m really happy you took content creation as a post topic. As many here said before content is king and as it is very important to deliver good content to your readers it might more often be neccessary to “aquire” some ideas from your neighbours

Hi Wong! You never fail to post a catchy title (and content of course!). Since I was a child I knew that any kind of stealing is a no no. It’s really funny how the Internet can now make it appear legal. Haha! Anyway, I make use of number 4 most of the time and it’s great.

Thanks for becoming a follower on my twitter, hope you enjoy your reading here and talk to you soon.
Stealing content is the best way to write number of posts but when it comes to unique post you have to master your niche and come up with new and dynamic post.
One more thing i like to add the best way is to come-up with a follow post. It also helps you to make better relations with that blogger

plus you can put your own spin on it.
