Is Blog Commenting A Good Traffic Strategy For Your Blog? (The Good and the Evil)

There are two ways to go about blog commenting whenever you want to get some traffic to your blog, and I’ll tell you about both of them in this post. One of them is a sweet little strategy that will get some people over to your blog, the other blog commenting strategy (evil one) will also work, but I will not recommend you to do, so…

Let’s Roll With it !

1. Blog Commenting On Popular Blogs With Commentluv Installed

This is a killer blog commenting technique that will help you get some highly targeted and easy to convert traffic. Here’s how you do it:

First, you go through your market and identify all of the popular blogs with commentluv installed that people like to read and comment. You don’t need many of them, just three or four is more than enough. This step should only take a minute or two, provided you know your market, at least a little bit, and did your research…

On the Competitors !

Then, what you do is post good, valuable comments on those blogs and the commentluv will create a link of your latest blog post back to your blog. The point of doing this blog commenting strategy, is to provide great value to the blog you are commenting so that people can read your comment and be interested to…

Read Your Blog !

I really like this blog commenting strategy because it does a few things for my blog:

1. It gets me a great wave of visitors every time I post a comment up on one of my competitors’ blog.

2. It gets me a relationship with some really awesome bloggers which can be of use for all kinds of good stuff in the near future.

I mean, I make friends with a ton of successful bloggers out there which in turn helps me in my blogging endeavor. After all, it’s all about…

Who You Know that Matters
in Your Road to Success !

2. Mass Blog Commenting (Not Recommended)

This blog commenting strategy is definitely not something I will recommend, although I understand that it does have its place. What you do is, you grab a piece of software such as Sandbox or SeNuke and post…

Thousands of Comments
On Different Blogs !

Although, this blog commenting strategy will get you a bunch of great backlinks if the comments you post go live, the problem with this approach is that not many of them tend to stick. Blog owners consider such blog commenting as spam, so unless you really try hard, you’re going to have a bit of a problem…

Getting Those Links to
Stick On the Blogs !

If they do stick, however, they’ll help your blog’s SEO which will in turn get you a ton of traffic. Having said all this, let me tell you that it’s kind of difficult to say if blog commenting is a good traffic strategy for you because some might use it for good and some will use it for evil. It’s a business decision…

You Have to Make
On Your Own !

I can tell you, however, that for me, blog commenting has been great and if you do it right, I’m sure it’ll do wonders for you as well. You just have to make sure  you connect with right people when you do blog commenting and make friends in high places, so to speak, and you’re never going to have…

An Ounce of Trouble !

Stay Cool,

Yes, blog commenting is good but hopefully you are not using “mass commenting” software to do it because it won’t do you good in a long run especially reputation, but again if you are commenting with value, it will create a good reputation in your long run.

I’ve got all my fave blogs lines up in my feedreader – so I can scan them and look for interesting posts worthy of comment and then click through to the site and post my comment. So a note to all bloggers – make the headlines interesting bemuse it is the headline that really stands out in feed-readers.

I too would not recommend an automated commenting system. The personal touch that we are able to give to any post and extend it in the comments section is very important. After a point of time, regular commenting brings in a lot of buddies.

For me blog commenting has worked well in terms of SEO. As far as traffic goes, it really depends on the post I comment on and if my comment makes a spark there, then yeah, I do get some traffic. But in general, not much traffic from comments.

I just blog. I go through my blogger’s list and reader and find relevant posts that interest me, just as I’m doing here. I read the post and try to contribute the best I can. I have never tried, nor will I ever, mass commenting (spam) software. I know it’s widely used because I delete those comments daily.

Personally, I love CommentLuv, especially the new Premium version but I don’t limit myself to CommentLuv enabled blogs. I don’t even check to see which are do-follow. To me it’s all about participation and building relationships. I know that sounds like a broken record because everyone says it but, when you’re as luvable as I am, it works. lol Thanks for the post, I enjoyed it Wong.

BTW, As a side note, one of the top search terms for Google on my site is “inurl:/blog/ site:.com this site uses keywordluv”. This will change now that I’m running CommentLuv Premium as it replaces KeywordLuv but that goes to show how many people are looking for CommentLuv and keywordluv enabled blogs.

Well, I do comment on some blog without commentluv installed for the reason the post is just awesome and I really got something to say, and I have to agree nowadays more and more people are looking for those blog with commentluv but hopefully the premium version could make the spammers less then before, which is also one of the first issue Andy is dealing with when he started work of the premium version.

If you are into learning new things on your chosen field, mass commenting will not help a lot, for SEO, yes but for self learning, its doesn’t make sense anymore if you are spoiling a lot of automated comments to random blogs.

Hello Wong. I just got my ComLuv premium Monday and I’m loving it already. Took a good hour to set up. I also just nuke comments that seem automated. I love when people talk about what a great post and how they loved the concept in the third paragraph when it was a vlog… I’ve developed a good sense of what is crap and what not.

If you wanna build links, use Blogengage. There isn’t a mor eeffective way to do it… seriously. And that’s not only ’cause I’m tight with Brian. It’s because I’ve seen what the platfroms does. And automating comments you’re just robbing yourself. seriously. When you comment, valuable comments, you have to at least scan the post and you learn something reading blog posts. Automating comments you only learn to be a parasite.

Hi! I only do blog commenting for a few posts that I like and I have already struck some friendly exchanges with a few bloggers. But there was this one unfriendly person who insulted me by saying I was using a software, just like the one you said that is being used for mass blog commenting. Just because I used some “deep” scientific word that he didn’t understand, he promptly judged me. I never visit his site again after that. There are lots more worthy sites to read :)

I think for blog owners installing “comment luv” or “keyword luv” is great for their blog. Google loves to see social interaction and rewards blog owners for it. It’s a win – win situation for both blog owner and commenter.

I couldn’t agree more with YOU regarding automated software. I’ve used it before and found that it just isn’t worth it. I’d rather take five minutes and provide a worthwhile comment.

Well, may be automated software are good to use 10 years ago, as for now, people get smarter and smarter and the software get stupider and stupider, thus the success of using automated software is almost zero, though I don’t mean it suck but surely someone using it should be smarter enough to plan out the use of the this sort of software…

It’s true that mass commenting on blogs may not be effective because of the chances that the comment that you make might not stick. But if you do have the luxury to make unique comments on different blogs on the same niche, then do so. Just take note that you have to make them un-spammy. (I couldn’t think of a better word, lol)
