Yes… You read the title right! You doesn’t need to do any hard work whatsoever because I’m going to do the hard work for you, all you need to do is just fill in the blanks, copy and paste… that’s it. But before I go deep into the core of this content, let me just start from the very beginning, so that you fully understand the whole concept of this…

Simple-Yet-Advance Technology
Plus Psychology Method Of Converting !

Lets talk about the “Technology” first. As you may or may not know getting comments from visitors on your blog, shows that they are interested in your content, but how can you grab them to become a loyal visitors to your blog? Simply this:

Make Friends With Them Individually
After Their First Comment !

Listen: This plugin send only a single email message to your new commentator, and that’s it, no more sending them a second email, unless you want to send second and third and forth and so on, you have got to edit it on your own, but I highly recommend sending just one time if you are just starting to use it or if you don’t know how to follow up.

You see, once they become your friends, most likely they will become a loyal visitors to your blog, and with that, they might even become your customers in the future. So how do you make friends with them individually after their first comment? Simply this: Send them a so-called “personal thank you message” thanking them sincerely through your own words.

Is That Possible ?

Yes… You buckwheat, is absolutely possible with this advance technology of wordpress plugin called…

Thank Me Later WordPress Plugin !

What this plugin do, is automatically send your new commentator an email message after their first comment. Wait…before you think about anything in your head, I have got to tell you… this is not a spam, and absolutely not.

But you might think, this isn’t a good ideal, since some new commentators doesn’t really like getting email from someone all of a sudden.

THINK ABOUT THIS : You meet up with a new girl and on the day you met her, you give her a small gift and surprise her, what you think she will react? Simply this: She will be astonish by your surprise, and think of how sincere you are to her. Look, not all the new girls you met will be astonish, but the way to astonish someone is…

Your Safest Bet !

Okay, of course you don’t think of your commentator as a new girl, that was just an example to let you understand an important element which is…

Astonish !

Yes.., You astonish your commentator by sending a personal email message telling he or she how sincere you are about making a good friendship. But in order to show your sincerity, you need to craft a rather heart-warming and personal type of message to your new commentator. And with that, here comes the “Psychology” part of this post, and believe me this is the most important part of all that most people neglected.

And the reason for that, is simply this…

Their Message Sucks !

Don’t worry about that, because I’m going to show you how. Listen carefully: The first thing you need to remember is…

Never To Sell Anything For Cash
In The Message !

Okay, there are only 3 things you can offer to your new commentators…

  • First, is offer your subscription to your RSS Feed.
  • Second, is offer your subscription to your mailing list, such as newsletter or ebook.
  • Third, is offer a valuable free gift without subscribing to your mailing list.

Now, from the 3 offers above, you can only choose one as your option.

Here’s why…

Only Sell One Product To
One Person At
One Time !

What I mean is you can only…

Send One Offer To
One Commentator At
One Time !

Do not… I repeat do not offer more then one offer, you will put your percentage of converting at risk.

Below are the three different offers I had written for you to choose, all you need to do is fill in the blanks and copy and paste the message to your plugin setting in your wordpress admin panel.

Message 1 :

Title Headline: (Insert your name here) here, I would like…

Hey friend, you are receiving this message because you had commented on one of my blog post for the first time and just because you had taken your time to read and comment, I believe you are truly interested in my content or else you won’t waste your time to even read it.

In any case, I hope you find as much value reading my blog content as thousands of others have.

Sincerely,

(Insert your name here)

P.S If you have any question regarding (Insert your subject here), you can send an email to me @ (Insert your email here)

Message 2 :

Title Headline: (Insert your name here) here, thank you for…

Hey friend, you are receiving this message because you had commented on one of my blog post for the first time and this message is not to sell you on anything, but to sincerely thank you for visiting, reading and commenting on one of my blog post.

I believe you are truly interested in my content or else you won’t waste your time to even read it, so I thought may be you would be interested in (Insert your newsletter name or ebook name), which is free.

And here’s what you will learn:

  • Insert at least 3 bullet points
  • Insert at least 3 bullet points

  • Note, on the forth bullet, usually I will always use this: And many many more, that will blow your mind off…

Are you interested?

If so, all you have to do is (Insert the URL of your opt-in page here)

Sincerely,

(Insert your name here)

P.S In any case, I hope you find as much value reading my blog content as thousands of others have.

Message 3 :

Title Headline: (Insert you name here) here, thank you and…

Hey friend, you are receiving this message because you had commented on one of my blog post for the first time and this message is not to sell you on anything, but to sincerely thank you for visiting, reading and commenting on one of my blog post.

I doesn’t know how you got to my blog, but since you had taken your precious time to read and comment, I hereby would like to give you a small and valuable free gift.

All you have to do is go to (Insert the URL of the download page) and download it, you doesn’t had to subscribe to anything, is yours truly.

In any case, I hope you find as much value reading my blog content as thousands of others have.

Sincerely,

(Insert you name here)

P.S If you have any question regarding (Insert your subject here), you can send an email to me @ (Insert your email here)

How’s the above message? Truly a bitch of a personal message, right? I bet, if you were to receive one of the message above, you will be astonish at how sincere the author of the blog you had commented is. Now, there are certain “Psychology” element in the above 3 message, and I will explain it all, right now.

First, did you realize that I did not use the commentator’s name in any of the message? The reason for that is, some commentators uses keywords for their name rather then their real name, so to decreased the risk of converting, I usually use the word…

“FRIEND”

It sounds more personal, right? Okay, the second thing is, did you realize that all the title headline seems to had your name and also an incomplete sentence attach to it? The reason for putting your name is to get the attention of the commentator. And lastly the incomplete sentence is to pique their curiosity. And the reason people open an email is…

Curiosity,
No Doubt About It !

Think about this: If you commented on John Chow’s blog, and when you check your email and saw his name, will you not open? You sure will open, now you may ask but the commentator doesn’t know you… Don’t you worry, he will know, since he reads your blog.

Okay, by now, you should know how powerful this content that I have written really can help you get loyal visitors automatically without any hard work whatsoever, but there is something that I would love to tell you about using the concept above and that is…

Reader —> Commentator —> Loyal Visitor —-> Friend/Fan —> Customer

What I just written is what you should be thinking right now in your mind, use message and the content in here to blog your way to making more money on you blog.

Stay Frosty,

The Bad Blogger

MY QUESTION TO YOU :

I know there are other ways to convert new commentator to loyal visitor other then what I had just told you above, so if you know of any other way, mind sharing with me or if you have any other ideals you did like to share?

You have so many great idea’s listed above it’s amazing. When I first commented on your blog and got that e-mail I was pretty surprised. When I continued getting after every comment I thought it was a bit much.

But on another note I’m a bloggers and that’s my opinion as a blogger. A reader might be different.

Another benefit of this option is it reminded the commenter the website or blog url. This way if they want to return they have the information necessary to make it happen. There’s nothing worse then looking for that blog you commented on and can’t find it.

Another must have for retention on commenters is a notify of reply to the topic. I hate commenting on blogs that don’t offer a subscribe tot hat post.

bbrain – you know what after reading your comment I realize my comment relish is still on the old version, that is why there’s a bug in there, now is fix, and I’m on the latest version which is 2.0 it seems everything is done.
And no more sending extra email anymore….

oh weeeeh … that post just totally gave me the creeps and them some …
you are saying it isn´t spam, but yet you explain how to avoid it looking like spam … so in my book… sending an unsollicited email to somebody, inviting them to join whatever … is spam!

“The reason for that is, some commentators uses keywords for their name rather then their real name, so to decreased the risk of converting, I usually use the word…“FRIEND”It sounds more personal, right?”

Now that is one that would really tick me off to no extend, I know who my friends are and somebody calling me friend because I happened to leave one comment on their blog certainly is all BUT my friend. sorry but really find that disrespectful and annoying, especially when it comes with a “free and valuable gift” that I hadn´t asked for…

In my book, free and valuable doesn´t go hand in hand, but this combination is used too many times these days and it sends off an instant alert … “spam spam spam” … anyways, just my two cents …. nothing personal LOL

have a nice weekend, friend!

Meh I don’t think it’s a big deal! I send out mass e-mails every week so I don’t complain about getting e-mails at all! I just think one thank you letter is enough. Perhaps the other e-mails should be more about the thank you for commenting instead of hi I want to be your friend. It’s pretty good idea to offer your rss feed as well. I never noticed that before!

The Bad Blogger June 12, 2009 at 1:13 pm

Mirjam – Hmm… just to be honest with you, thanks for reading what I write, may be you will understand more when you find out more… selling is not about getting everyone to accept, but to get the group of people who will accept.

Reply

Mirjam June 12, 2009 at 1:26 pm

I think you missed my point … I just received your “welcome friend message” to my first comment and quite frankly, it would be a reason not to return rather than actually coming back. It certainly would not be a reason to sign up or accept the “free offer valued at whatever ridiculous amount of USD” since well, there are too many of those offers around already and instead of value they prove to be a waste of time.

So basically my point is, that the plugin does the opposite of what you are trying to achieve, or at least in my case. Nothing personal, but I think it is an obtrusive way, especially if you have already installed the opportunity of receiving follow ups on comments via e-mail.

cheers :D

Mirjam – thanks for the sentence… “free offer valued at whatever ridiculous amount of USD”

I think you should send your comment to John chow’s blog post and also the pugin blog post, so that everyone knows the truth of using the plugin.

To me, I doesn’t really care much about whether or not, a reader feels I’m spamming them email or sending offer to them, to me, is up to their choice, if they feel bad about me, so be it, take and go, if they feel astonish, then I’m willing to welcome them back for more content.

You see, I feel you should understand no one is perfect, some might think what I wrote in the content suck, as I can feel you totally disagree on what I had said, but doesn’t business split into two groups, one group consist of players with money and one group consist of losers.

I just want players with money, so is ok, people unsubscribe to my newsletter or said bad stuff about me, still there are people out there that will accept me.

I doesn’t know you, but I usually don’t comment on post I doesn’t like, I usually put’s my disagree terms on my blog post, so that I can discussed with my readers about the case.

I don’t go around disagreeing other people’s content, because I think other people had their own opinion about certain subject, I rather write on my own blog.

So I think you should learn to be positive on your mindset about people you do not disagree, because the word “ridiculous” most likely will offend lots of people.

I know you are unhappy with my opinion so please do not use “cheers” like as though you are innocent, to me is almost like “sarcastic”

Toan Nguyen Minh – eh… Comment Relish is the same as Thank me later plugin, is just that comment relish doesn’t had time to adjust that’s all.

Hey buddy,

i’ve read your blog post about comment relish, it seems to be a lot like thank me later plugin – i’ve decided to deactivate that plugin though because i’ve read the email that my readers would get if they commented and it looks pretty bad. the html and links didnt show up the way i want it after spending some time to tweak it. but it seems like you’re pretty confident with your comment relish though. i’d say “to each their own” when it comes to their own personal experience and growth with blogging. if it works for you, then it works for you. if not then scratch that off the board and start again, know what i mean?

your blog looks good by the way, you even got a footer ad. it came a long way from how you had it before.

Pheak Tol – I agree with what you say as I had said in the comment to Mirjam that not everyone is perfect, it means we had to test and the result for me is I want potential readers that is able to accept my way of blogging, writing and marketing.

You can’t please every single soul you met, as Yaro and Frank said on their recent blog, both said the same thing, “Be Yourself and don’t act.”

What can I said about that, Yaro is a successful blogger and Frank is the guy behind mass control, I rather follow their advice then getting advice from someone who disagree and being sarcastic in a way, like as though his a player in the online marketing world when the only thing he knows is weeing at other’s people stuff about ridiculous price.

Yeah comment relish is a really good plugin but it can get alittle bothersome to some people. So make you warns your commentators about it.

Reply

The Bad Blogger June 13, 2009 at 12:30 pm

Ben Pei – I’m not sure what anyone think about comment relish, but I’m looking at this plugin from a direct marketing point of view. You see, how many time did you comment on a post, where the author doesn’t seem to really care about you?

Go try comment on Problogger, copyblogger and John Chow’s blog, and see if they actually reply to every single commentator. NO… they didn’t, MOST of the time they reply to friends they knew.

My sense of concept is this – “ASTONISH MY READER” I want for readers to be surprise that when they comment on my blog, I will reply to them, as to let them know how “SINCERE” I am to reply to them.

As my blog is growing and growing, commentators gets a lot and I can reply to every single soul, so the only way to let commentator to feel that I’m really sincere to make a relationship with him or her is to surprise by replying with a message.

When you really look at the positive side of business relationship, this is what real worlds business people do, I’m not sure about what blogger think, but I can say “ASTONISH” is what Japanese business industrial are great for.

So far I’ve decided NOT to use it.

But there’s a big chance I’m going to use it if I, or somebody else, finds a way to have it send mail only to those not already subscribed using the “subscribe to comments” plugin, as they will already be getting an email when I reply to their comment.

If that kind of integration were included, I’d most likely use it.

I have been using the Thank Me Later plug-in on my blog for over a year. The message that I send to those people who leave a comment for the first time is very short. Basically, I just thank them for taking the time to visit my blog and leave a comment and let them know how much I appreciate it.

The other thing I like about Thank Me Later is the fact that you can choose how many emails will be sent to people who comment. I currently have it set at 2 and you can also set the interval of how long between emails. In other words, I can tell it to only send the second message at least 2 weeks later or you can set it to whatever you feel is appropriate.

Finally, there is an option to include an opt-out link in your messages so if a person no longer wants messages, they can simply click the link and opt out.

You did make an important point here Sir. An important element of building a relationship is being well-versed with the psychology of people. I do love the idea of the thank me later plugin but in my experience I’m a bit passive when I receive those automatic thank you mails. Still, I make it a point to acknowledge my commentators personally by replying to the context of their comments. :-)

Reply

The Bad Blogger September 11, 2010 at 11:14 pm

People who are a bit of passive when they receive these automatic thank you email is because they already know it’s automatic…
Just imagine you are new to the internet and you didn’t know of this type of technology of automatic email, don’t you feel, when the author of the blog send you a personal message would be a surprise to you…
Well, this plugin add only as a tool for you to astonish people who wanted or to say interested in your blog.
Sending an email, is no big deal to almost everyone, but sending multiple email is totally over the limit.

Hi Mr Bad, great post! You’ve obviously thought a lot about the psychological aspect of customer relationships. I particularly like your box showing the flow from reader through customer.

Too many of us, myself included, tend to assume our readers will automatically want to buy anything we care to thrust onto our blog pages without much thought as to our readers’ headspace. MMM you’ve definitely given me something to think about.

Thanks for the eye opener.

I liked the article, and I thought reading through some of the comments was also pretty interesting. The majority of people/bloggers fall into one fatal flaw. They believe that everyone else thinks the exact same way as them. I have been back and forth on whether or not to add the thank me later plugin and I most likely will. I feel like it does add a touch of personality.

Lets also look at it from a different angle. I personally get very annoyed at pop ups. As a reader I think are a pain and get in the way. I would like to assume everyone thinks just like me, but when you look at pop up conversions and added subscriptions its impossible to argue with. I still don’t use pop ups because I’m hard headed, but I do understand why other bloggers are implementing them.

This sounds like a great idea. The problem is that I’m using the disqus plugin for my comments, and I really like it. And I guess there’s no way to get this “trick” to work with disqus?

On the other hand, one of the problems with thank you email to commentators is what I see in my inbox at Twitter. I rarely get one interesting DM, all of them are thank you for following me or a sales pitch. If a lot of people are using the plugin and are doing it the same way, we will lose interest and probably not end up as friends. But I guess it all depends on the email, if you’re a good writer, you can turn it around to your benefit.

you are right, it all depends on how you write the email in order to turn the stuff around, because there are just too many blogger who do not have the touch of writing good email… all they think about is… numbers game which to my knowledge is not going to work now, although it does work wonders for most of them in the past… as for now… is all about how personal you can be to a certain relationship before that “someone” you are writing to… “get’s it”

I like the idea of this wordpress plugin. But, not all commenters bother to check their emails. Though some still check any possible reply from the blog owners so they can answer back in there. It’s still worth of a try for sure, you just need to know first your target market so you can easily choose which format you’ll use as your thank you letter.
