Hugh MacLeod does a great job of describing a blogger’s existence with this one. After blogging for a while, it’s easy to look at life through blog colored glasses into a world where everything looks like a blog post opportunity.

Of course, this affects our productivity at work, where we spend our time not working, but commenting on other blogs and scouring the web for new blog post ideas.

Then again, there are times when the idea well simply runs out, and we’re left with “other things” to do.

Of course, when we’re on, nothing is more important than the current topic or piece of technology. We’re so important, that we tell the president to call us back.

When you think about it, our social media habits are pretty silly!

And then the inevitable happens – we start looking over our shoulders to other bloggers, and “compare size” with each other. Things heat up, feuds are created, and empires are built and burned. It’s really something isn’t it?

Admit it, who doesn’t get a little high or low based on the day’s comments? “I blog, therefore I am.”

We’re in the Thank You Economy Now (Gary Vaynerchuk), so don’t forget to send your wife trackbacks!

That, and don’t forget to wear pants on casual Friday, even if you do work at home!

Marketing blogs are about as meta as it gets. At the end of the day, what we do is pretty silly, and as long as you don’t forget that…
