Some time ago I published a guest post at Basic Blog Tips about SEO related scams. In that post I went through and talked about some of the dangers related to working with…
Shady Search Engine
Optimization Companies !
One of the things I said was that you shouldn’t even pay for any SEO work until you see the results you want and, as I expected…
…Readers Went Crazy !
There were literally dozens of comments that disagreed with what I said and said that there’s no way an SEO company is going to do any work without…
A Down Payment !
Now, that’s a pretty bold statement made by a bunch of people. That false assumption and the way it was presented made me think about making bold statements a little, so here’s a few reasons…
Why You Should Avoid Them !
Ready?
1. They Are Almost Never True
Big, bold statements like the one made in our SEO example are almost never true. I mean …are you serious? There aren’t any reputable SEO businesses that will work without a down payment?
Of Course
There Are !
In fact, here’s one just to proof I know what I’m talking about:

The dudes providing this service do a great job and all they need is an escrow payment.
2. It’s Hard to Prove Them
Now, in the rare cases when those bold statements are true, it’s extremely difficult to prove them. I mean, how do you prove you’re the cheapest steakhouse in town? How do you prove that your car is the fastest in the world? How do you prove your money making system works each and every time?
You can’t !
To prove such things you’d have to put in the time and resources to verify your claims and that’s very often just…
Not Practical !
3. Whoever Makes Unproven Promises Will Endanger His Reputation
Why? Because sooner or later, he or she will be caught and their bold statement will be proven completely wrong. What happens then? Easy.
News Spread !
People stop trusting that person and next time they make a bold statement, no one even cares. See what I mean?
4. People Don’t Believe Them Anymore
There have been so many people making ridiculous statements that have been proven to be complete shenanigans, that people got completely desensitized to them. Unless you can present some solid prove for your claims, no matter if they’re big or small, chances are…
People Won’t Believe
What You’re Saying !
Big, unsubstantial promises are not worth it really. Don’t make them or you’ll be burnt. I am sure they they’ll feel pretty stupid when they find out that what they thought was true and what they’ve published online for everyone to see is…
Completely Wrong !
Now, if you do have a good statement to make and it seems to be big, be sure to present some kind of proof. Life’s easier this way. Anyway, this is the end of the rant.

Strongly agree with you Wong
The bold statements are always false promises, very few can be considered true (the one that provide proofs).
Thanks for the eye-opening article…

No problem, I mean although not many can agree with me about certain stuff, it is the guts that we need that really makes the difference… sometime we just had to accept facts even if it sucks….

Hey Wong! This post makes a lot of sense. I’ve seen it happen before too and I usually can tell when people are full of crap. LOL!! Thanks for the advice.

No problem, and yes I can smell when people are full of crap, I also can smell when people are trying to convince someone when their answer is already out of mind.
Well they can trick newbies but probably for us… like you and me… this is hard….
This is great! I think it’s the responsibility of the blogger to speak only the real truth at all times in his blogs and to others’ blog. And for me I can sense if a person is lying and that claiming unproven tactics to convince readers. Being meticulous and more research could help us to get the real information.

Ya, it’s all about how much of info you can tell and also how much of proof that really make sense, by relying of instinct… it is not going to work…

I’m with Ileane. After a while certain email headings just make you gaga, especially ’cause you know what’s on the inside – and what’s the result. An unhappy YOU!
Thanks again!

Lol… I also came across lots of email such as this: “You’ve Got a Sale” and then in the email… it talks about how it is good to have that in your inbox and how you can do it and well… the fucking sales pitch…
To me if any professional marketer do it, it doesn’t matter if it is Frank Kern or John Reese… I got to tell them this… “Grow UP”

Dude, I’ve got the same gripe. I wrote a post called ‘Unethical emails’ where I moan about this very thing. We are all trying to make money online, and I get fumed every time I open an email saying you’ve got a sale’ or Re: your commission check and there’s some pitch in it. Instead of grow up, I just unsubscribe. I did that with THOUSANDS of affiliate marketers and now I am at less of a risk to have a heart attack

Well… if you know who Ryan Deiss is, I mean I love his content but recently he uses this trick… and I feel personally bad about him… I mean to trick people to open the email is something I feel it’s not right unless you put people into curiosity that actually make sense is alright…
