I don’t think posting daily is a problem but the problem lies in how you market your blog. There are advantages with search engines if you post daily but only if you know what you are doing and always inter link your articles. There are many methods that work and you have to find the right balance with the time available for you.
Nishadha recently posted..The concept of recurring income
You see the problem is most of the blogger are not like you, if you realize most blogger never interlink their post and also they do not have the time… to market their blog, is the time and the knowledge that pulls them back especially time….
Most people are busy with their own personal shit, so you should NOT tell them to post daily when they should be moving at a speed where they have time to publish their article and like you say market their blog…
By telling them to post daily, you have shortened their time span and thus their reason for not succeeding is they have no time…
Well I think I agree and disagree if that is possible.
I have been busting my ass to make daily posts. I like to think that the quality has been pretty decent on my posts. But it is surely possible some people are missing some of my “better” stuff. In the best world people will do everything you do (which are all great things) AND post daily.
Trust me I know how hard that is, because I attempt to do it and missing the mark sometimes likely hurts me.
Your post definitely gave me something to think on. I certainly need to submit to articles directories more…in my main eBiz I get the majority of my customers through article marketing, but have done very little to drive people to my blog that way.
Another huge thing which you “sort of” mentioned (where I know I lack some) is social networking. (twitter/facebook in addition to digg etc.)
Thanks for the article,
Steve

You are right including me, I might miss your better stuff. If you think you article marketing is not driving much to your blog, and if you think you have done a great content, then for what I possibly think the problem is the “signature part.”
Most blogger who tried article marketing failed not because their content sucks but because they do not know how to write a great signature that actually pique reader’s curiosity to click through.
And I think you should do a bit more on social networking, since it’s proven time to time, real friends are make from there….
Oh I am all for article marketing, I just haven’t “done enough’ of it. My blog is my 4th online business, I generated the majority of my 70k plus email lists from my other business due in a large part through email marketing. (I have about 600 articles on Ezinearticles alone right now) for me it is a matter of time in a lot of ways. I outsource a metric ton of stuff (specifically in the older businesses)
I know what I need to do to make the blog work better, sometimes I just need the kick in the ass from posts like yours to go and get it done.

Wow, I thought the old myth was; “build it and they will come”. Which I still don’t believe in.
However I do believe in quality over quantity.
Personally, I try to post an average of one article per week and find that works best for me. Of course there are exceptions when some great idea pops into my head or I come across the “next big thing” and I feel the need to share it with my readers. I also send my articles to most of the major social networks like Twitter, Facebook, Digg, Etc. Still working on my PR though. It seems to go back and forth from 2 to 3 to 2.

Well… it’s just a matter of time, massive traffic will be coming towards your blog. At least your content is better then most blogs out there, as I like to read most of your articles and I do believe your readers like to read your stuff too…
It’s very important as you say, to market your articles properly and efficiently, you need a good balance in posting and marketing, but then again it all depends on the type of website you are running.
I agree though if you’re blogging about blogs, or making money you need to market properly because there is so much competition, but if you have a specific niche, or a music or sports fan website, you might be better posting all the updates of news you can find to get ahead of the competition, but again you don’t want to skip the marketing.
I say depending on your website type you want to go from 40% Posting – 60% Marketing to 60% Posting – 40% Marketing.
Great Post!

That’s a good way of planning and I do agree fully as I do most of my marketing about 40% and content 60%.
emm..i agree. We need to update daily. Then, we can get what we want..

I agree with your concept that marketing your site is more important than simply posting daily. Especially when you make the point that you want to make sure that you are taking the time to post quality content.
I also want to make sure that my posts stay up long enough for people to read them as I don’t think people read them as much once they scroll off the page.
One question, do you submit duplicate content from your blog to the article directories or write fresh articles for those?
Good question, I do both… and I highly recommend you to do both, the reason is to market whatever you think is “quality” to article directories, you will definitely get more and more traffic.
As a reader, I like to read a blog post that is very informative. Something that I can improve my knowledge about a particular subject matter. However, not all blog owners can offer this kind of article to their readers. As long as they are earning money, they won’t care for the quality of every post.
Cole Stan recently posted..Traditional Gifts for a 25thSilver Wedding Anniversary
Well… I agree with you that there are indeed blogger who won’t care for the quality of every post, as long as they earn money, but not all blogger are like this.
I do not know if my content is worth your reading, but I do know, at least I have someone reading my content, I feel it’s enough then zero reader…
I completely agree with you that posting once a day shouldn’t be a requirement. Don’t sacrifice quality just because you want to get something up on your blog. Consistency is important, but the intervals between those posts is up to you. Thanks for the great information.
Brian Rogel recently posted..FeedBurner is Stealing Your CommentLuv Backlinks
Yes consistency is important, but some people think of it as a “law” to follow which becomes a daily job that they had to do in order to succeed which to me is just wrong.
I can’t agree more with what you highlighted in your article as reflected below:
•”Don’t Write Quantity Over Quality Content !” Orginal quality content is what the search engines are looking for and this should also take cognizance of the human element. Human beings want something informative and worth reading.
•”Send Every Single Quality Content To Article Directories !” I use Ezines, Goarticles, etc and this works wonders for me.
•”Send Every Single Quality Content To Social Digg-Like Site !” This enhances your visiblity online.
•”Send Every Single Quality Content To Social Media Site !” It is important to signup with the online forums to start interacting with like minded enterpreneurs and become visible online.
Finally, I also want to add that backlinks with other blogs or sites can make a difference in traffic flow. Futhermore one has to submit his/her blog to search engines such google, MSN, Yahoo and many more.

Oh… ya back link… I almost forgot, that really can put in more traffic.
i dont give much heed to alexa , its just cr*p stats . Just keep your bounce rate below 50 – 55 , see google traffic flowing in …that is what matters – your readers , stats will follow
Quality content over quantity will definitely bring in more human readers. When I visit a blog and I see 3+ consecutive boring, bland posts I stop visiting. The blogs I read everyday like Seobook aren’t updated everyday, but when they are updated, the content is magnetic and captures my attention. However quantity *is* useful and a legit strategy if you’re building a content site (not a blog)
Henway recently posted..Choosing the right diet program
Interesting. I did write just two blog posts a week, but then I read Chris Brogan’s post about why I should be writing two articles a day in order to get a lot more traffic, and after reading that, I started to publish one blog post a day (but writing all my blog posts during the weekend, and using Editorial Calendar plugin) – I just didn’t have the time to write fourteen blog posts a week, and I still don’t. But writing seven blog posts a week haven’t been a problem. Now, I get more traffic as well.
I never send my content to article directories, and I only add them to Twitter (which brings me 10 – 20 visitors a day to each post). I should probably spend more time to market each blog post, but I don’t. I try to focus on content, and that’s how I have spent my time.
