6 Stupid and Ridiculous Spam Comments that Make Spammers Look Dumb!

Thumbnail image for 6 Stupid and Ridiculous Spam Comments that Make Spammers Look Dumb!

You know…you really have to hand it to spammers. They are the most persistent, dogged entrepreneurs I’ve ever seen, and trying to defeat them is akin to being…

A Spartan Poised to
Battle the Persian Army !

While in the past I used to get frustrated, pissed off even, recently I’ve implemented a different tactic, which is to simply laugh at the extent to which they are willing to make themselves…

Look Stupid !

In doing this, I’ve learned that there are some spammers that are just too funny to be true, and that watching them work makes for great comic relief throughout the day. Here are 6 of my favorite spammer comments.

Read Them and
You’ll See Exactly
What I Mean !

1. “Very good post, but I cannot find the RSS button.”

I hate to be an ass, but clearly you’re blind, because the RSS button is right in front of your face! First of all, most browsers have RSS buttons built in, but even then, most bloggers have at least one way to subscribe.

Does Anyone
Really Fall for This ?

2. “I am very happy to discover your post as it will become on top in my collection of favorite blogs to visit.”

There’s only one thing that goes on top here, and that’s the ladies! All kidding aside, this comment sounds innocent enough at first, until you realize that the link URL comes from

www.iamadumbass.com !

3. “Very interesting blog, but you must improve your logo graphics.”

Hahaha, there’s nothing like being called out by some random audience member with what must be uber design skills. Look, I’m not saying my blog is the best designed blog on the planet, but it’s not bad. Clearly this commenter…

Doesn’t Understand
HIS Audience !

4. “A subject close to my heart many thanks, i’ve been thinking about this subject for a short time.”

Wait, what? You’re so interested in the topic that you’ve been thinking about it a short time and not a long time? You almost had me, but failure to use proper English is going to be…

The Downfall of
This Spammer !

5. “I do not typically reply to posts but I’ll in this situation. my God, i believed you were heading to chip in with some decisive insight at the finish there, not go away it with ‘we depart it to you to decide’.”

I can’t tell if this one is a Katie Couric wannabe, or a spammer with chocolate chips on the brain, but regardless, this is a horrible comment. Not only is this narrative impossible to decipher, but also useless. Why on Earth would anyone approve this comment unless they were hoping to get…

A Laugh Out of Their
Regular Crowd ?

6. “Wow! Thank you! I always wanted to write on my site something like that. Can I implement a portion of your post to my blog?”

I once spit out my coffee while reading one of these comments. Not because of the insincerity, but because of the way the commenter made reblogging sound like a surgical procedure. Can you implement it? I’m not sure, that sounds like…

A Medical
Problem !

So those are my top 6 funniest spam comments, what are yours? Let’s share the good ones in the comments below.

Well spammers tend to look for things they can actually give a dumb reply to…so that being said, it`s obvious that they lack the intellectual capacity to respond on the subject at hand with anything other than ” thank you that was helpful ” or ” I love your post “:))

Yes, most spammers had lack of intellectual mind, they always though having to say good words, their comment will get approve… well for beginner they might but for average and professional blogger, surely that’s not going to get approve, though I still see some average blogger approve all those spam comment and even replying to them…

I was literally laughing out loud reading these spammers attempts to sound human. I get a lot of these on my blog. Sometimes I enjoy reading through a couple of them for a good laugh. Most of them are positive but the negative ones are sometimes hilarious. Such as needing a new blog logo or whatever. Thanks for sharing these with us Wong.

Your blog not is safe for work. Not because of the nearly nekkid ladies’ pics, which I understand are wholly gratuitous and exist solely for purpose of generating more traffic (you misogynist! you could add a few hunky, half-nekkid heroic manly types or something for us girls), but because I nearly snarfed coffee all over my monitor at some of those.

You – and your readers – may enjoy these links:

You know, Wong Chendong, I used to follow you on Twitter – then stopped, because you were using this sexy female profile pic and I thought you were one of those porn spammers. :)

Anyway – I’m glad you enjoyed the story and I hope you’re having fun over at Marian’s “Spomment of the Day” page on Facebook. I had a couple of weird ones a while back – obviously they were using some sort of “comment spinner” but it was leaving ALL the variable statements in. Sort of like comment MadLibs, or something. I thought, “God, you’re even too lazy to come up with a spam comment – now you want me to pick my own variables and write it FOR you?”

Oh – please stop by the CommentLuv link – it’s not mine, but my good friend Abhi’s – and I’m sure he’d appreciate your comments on his post. He’s working hard to shed the “newbie blogger” label and I think doing a fine job of it.

The 9 words limit is something to keep spammer away or to keep those people from commenting short sentence, the reason I do that because it let me concentrate on replying those that really wanted to communicate with me.
You can write a lot when you know more about the topic, for example, you can write extra tips you know about the post that you read, or you can talk about similar event that happen to you that relates to the topic, there are a lot of ways to comment, knowledge, experience, questions and even help to answer other people’s question in the comment section, this way you not only can write long comment with meaning, but you are also helping the people in the comment.
See, I wrote a long reply just so you understand, there are many ways you can write long comment, hope to see your long comment soon :)

Maybe you are right, maybe we should try to laugh at the spam.
But it will be difficult because now everytime I see a spam message I cringe.
If it’s to one of my sites I just act like a robot and throw them away. But if it’s on somebody’s blog I cringe, not because of the spam message itself but that the owner of the blog let the spam through.

Seriously, so many times I just can’t understand how the blog owner can’t see that it is spam. And everytime somebody let’s a spam message through (without deleting it’s link) he or she is rewarding the spammer with a backlink. The better we get at deleting spam messages the less useful it will be to spam. And then maybe it will get less…. although I am afraid spam is just a part of the internet that will never leave.

There’s one I’ve seen that’s a long comment, longer than a normal article spouting rubbish about how much they have enjoyed your site and then right at the end they say – I’ll now read the rest of your site.

http://jahangiri.us/new/2012/02/18/the-top-10-signs-you-are-a-successful-blogger/#comment-7380

The guest post by Alan is great, though – too bad this drive-by spammer didn’t stop to read it, as it would’ve answered some of his blogging questions, and possibly caused him to rethink his entire life’s purpose.

I like to think it would’ve inspired him to dig a ditch – and crawl into it. ;)

And of course, if any of your readers missed Abhi’s contest entry, I’m leaving breadcrumbs to it again this morning (poor kid’s Internet isn’t working – for the past week or more! – and he could use some extra support as the contest draws to a close – you know, the whole “button dance” of sharing and a comment or fifty?)

Hey, just wanted to reply to the comment but there’s no reply button to do it. But anyway… sounds like his dumb spammer, I mean is he planning or is he just dumb stupid to use .net from PHP …lol
Anyway… Abhi’s internet isn’t working? That’s bad, but his got 300 + comment, that’s really awesome to me.
To be honest I hope the “40 simple ways” never won… I mean I can write 100 or even more “simple ways” to never run dry… I remember a year back where there is a contest called Traffic Generation, believe it or not, tons of people wasn’t impress with the selection of the winner.
I’m not sure about you but here’s a post you might want to read about:
http://www.thebadblogger.com/personal-secrets/wtf-i-lost
Hey, even Ana Hoffman from Traffic Generation Cafe said in the comment “didn’t think Brankica’s post was special”
Well… the post title is “50 website traffic source you should milk like crazy”
But none of the 50 source actually mention using “PPV” a new traffic source which I mention in one of my contest post… want to say unique… I think I am… want to say up to date content… will I just give one… so why wasn’t I in the winner’s list? That’s the question.
I think I should write a post “100 Reasons You Should Blog Like Crazy!”

Hmm… you can reply directly to the spammer if you like. I’ll still read it. As will my real, human readers.

Yes, Abhi’s having Internet problems but he’s still working really hard – you know how hard it is to comment, reply, and leave backlinks on a mobile phone? And he can’t really do it during class, which is one of the only other places he gets Internet, right now. :( It’s really frustrating for him.

Just realized the reason you can’t reply to the spammer (I think) is that it’s a trackback masquerading as a comment.

Well – it’s got no link juice, anyway. So…whatever. ;) Sorry – I can reply from the dashboard, but no one else gets to play.

Well, I don’t receive trackback anymore, I mean I use to accept but after changing my server to cloudflare, almost all incoming trackback seem to be cut off through their server, but anyway, I still like comment more then a trackback :)

Any comment that is too nice and complimentary that doesn’t say anything about the posts itself, is deleted on my sites. I am probably too nice cause if someone spammer actually looks at the title, I will let it go. And then there’s the direct copy of text from the article posted into the comments. I find many of these everyday.

Once it was 12:03 AM on my Blog. I saw a new spam comment at about 12:12 AM and it said – “Wow! Amazing Post! I just read your 5 other articles and this on was the best! I’ve shared all of them on Facebook and have even tweeted them”

Icing on the cake – My views were still 0 (zero).

How I hate these spammers! Arghh!

Well, to tell you a truth, I’m now face with a problem, this guy call Mario M is going to my reject list if he is not going to reply to me in the next hour or so, because he had written 50 and still counting comment in just two days and though each comment is unique but I won’t accept because I’m sure he had hire someone to do it and it’s not right.

Now, that’s an interesting discussion, Wong, worthy of its own post, I think. If A hires B to write comments on his behalf, and B is a real human being who writes thoughtful comments that show he has quite probably READ the post on which he is commenting, then B is diligently doing his job but also is a human being in his own right who is just as likely to click a link or buy a product as any other (and presumably has gainful employment to ensure his ability to buy and pay for things). I don’t think we should condemn B for the actions of A, provided B also fulfills our expectations as bloggers for thoughtful comments. That said, I think it’s rather sad to put that much work into making A look like he’s not a jerk. ;)

Well, I ask a friend who is a professional freelance I hired and he said, I doesn’t need to approve this person’s comment because I doesn’t need it.
He said, I had better use the time to build my business then approving and replying to this dude who doesn’t seem to reply when he was contacted.
His assume is he had hired a company or a team to do this commenting.
Well, B really does read my content and I do appreciate but since the name was A, I had no choice but to trash them all, I mean I doesn’t really need so many comment to be honest since I had so many readers already.
I think I should write a post about it, and it should title “Is it right to hire someone to comment for you?”
What you think?

I agree with Holly. Sometimes, even I get comments whom I don’t get reply back when I reply to their comments. But that doesn’t mean the comment was spam because some of those comments were actually the most thoughtful and important comments on that post! So you never know!

Wong, I guess you should give that guy what he deserves :) But again …only do so if you think that the comment is totally original and not copy-pasted.

And oh! You don’t really need comments? Hey Wong! That’s something unusual I’ve heard from a professional blogger :D

Hey BB! Well, to be honest, it’s not really a bad thing to comment in large numbers. Even I sometimes make about 20-30 comments in an hour if I love a particular blog! And on some blogs, I’ve made more than 200 or maybe 300 comments! Those blog owners are my friends and I’ve been following them for a long time. So who knows…this person, Mario, might just be in love with your blog! I guess you should give him respect Wong :) But only if you surely believe that the comments are not just copy-pasted.

Well, while his comment is still coming in, I had contacted him through his blog contact form and till now he had yet to reply, I mean if he is commenting on my blog, it shows that he is online and why in the world does he not reply to my email? Strange, right? Surely he had hired someone to do it for him while he is sleeping but I will wait a day and see if he reply to my email, if not… I can assure those comment are paid comment. To my knowledge that’s not acceptable on my blog.

Gosh, Raaj, come read my blog… just never leave one of those “great post, you have really inspired me for life” comments. :) Don’t. even. think. about. it.

I know how tempting it can be to be contrarian. Do it all the time, myself.

But seriously, come visit. (I’m a professional writer – NOT a professional blogger.)

If you don’t, I will!

(Oh, pith and vinegar – I ran into your “minimum word requirement” and now must revisit my middle-school days of writing padding in order to fill the page. I toyed with the idea of setting mine to 35, but that seemed cruel. I’ve now set it to 5, but with a minimum of 64 keyups. ;) You have to have an extraordinary vocabulary to comment on MY blog – that, or type “supercalifragilisticexpialidocious” a few times. And of course I’m just kidding about that. I won’t give away the exact numbers here IN PUBLIC.)

Most of what lands in my spam or moderate folders starts with some kind of bold-formatted heading. Which is weird, for a comment. I haven’t seen ANY actual comment that starts that way. And I’m not talking about a trackback or pingback. There’s some comment spinner out there that’s just making it almost TOO easy.

I’d be curious. Then again, even commenting on it here makes me think we’re cluing them in, so they can improve the next version. Kind of shooting ourselves in the foot to even mention it here.

I love some of the spam comments that I get. Here is one of my most current ones, it really doesn’t make most sense.

“we came throughout a great web site that you simply could possibly relish. Take a look if you’d like…”

Is this supposed to tempt me to take a look at their site? Or is it a ploy to sell relish?

I don’t know what I would do without Akismet.
Thanks for the laugh!

Spammers, spammers everywhere.

Some of those were really funny, but I still saw some better ones on other blogs, I can’t actually believe that they got approved.

Also spam comments made by bots are just so funny, most of them are way out of the topic, at first when I was new to wordpress and I saw these bots commenting on my blog I was like “wtf”.
