This is the biggest question that no one on earth can answer. It’s just like the question of who came first, the chicken or the egg?
Anyway, comparing, is a two way traffic. It depends on who and what sort of shit you are comparing that will give you an answer of either good or bad.
If you ever search the words “comparing yourself” on Google, there are tons of articles telling you why and how you should stop comparing yourself.
Is this really true? I wonder…
Well, actually there is no right or wrong. Here’s why…
When I was a kid, I always choose the food I want to eat on the diner table and my dad always said, I should not choose and always compare me to those poor kids living in third country that I should be lucky to even sit here to eat.
I bet, you either heard this or said this before, right?
Well, my father was right, I was lucky… but does comparing me to the poor kids make any sense?
Seriously the answer is NO. Why?
Look, can you compare Windows 10 to Windows 95/98? Can you compare Apple iphone against Sony Ericsson? Can you compare a 25 years old person to 10 years old? Can you compare a chicken with a dog?
Does any of the comparing above make sense to you?
You can’t just said Windows 10 is lucky because almost every computer in the world is using it or Apple iphone was lucky because of Steve Job, right?
You see, comparing me with poor kids is not going to make any sense out of why I should choose my food or not, this is probably the worst advice for your kids and trust me… it is not going to help your kids (if you do have one who like to choose) in anyway in life.
On the other hand, if you want to compare, you should compare your kids with other kids who have the same living standard as yours and tell them to choose the right food to eat rather then eat whatever that’s on the table and become a fat kid like the one living next door or the one which need two chairs to sit in the classroom.
As you can see, comparing is indeed a two way traffic.
Who and how you compare is going to change the way you think about yourself, is either it motivates you to do certain changes or it makes you depress and disappointed or even killing yourself.
Why not compare to motivate yourself to the best you can be?
I always compare myself to people who was born into the same standard of my living, such as… people who are born into a family that run business and… people who are born lucky in certain ways that is comparable to me.
It helps to motivate and see how I can be better myself or as many people like to say… luckier then them in certain ways.
So, stop comparing yourself to people who is not worth comparing and start comparing yourself to people that could motivate and move you forward.
